The Global Schools Advocates Program 2023 is accepting applications from educators all across the world. Through the incorporation of sustainable development into teacher preparation, this program fosters transformative change in classrooms in support of SDG 4.7 to enhance student learning. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) will be covered in a training program for selected teachers. Teachers will be able to interact with a worldwide cohort of educators through the training program’s online delivery.

In addition to learning about action-based pedagogy and strategies for incorporating ESD into the classrooms, educators will be introduced to the Sustainable Development Goals during the extensive training program.
Educators will start their journey to integrate ESD into schools after successfully completing the workshop and receiving the title and Global Schools Advocate Toolkit.
Advocates will be expected to motivate other educators and school administrators to support the SDGs and include sustainable development into their curriculum plans. Advocates will exert pressure on their school’s administration to include sustainable development into the curriculum and daily operations.
Benefits
If accepted into the program, teachers will receive:
- The Global Schools team created free online training to improve sustainable development literacy and give teachers fresh, practical ideas to use in the classroom;
- In order to connect educators with other education leaders and SDG Advocates, there are monthly online workshops and discussions on sustainable development;
- access to a teacher network of colleagues who share similar goals and are seeking to integrate activities and lessons on global concerns into their classrooms;
- Opportunities for visibility and involvement in conferences as educators can be chosen to discuss their advocacy work at the Vatican Youth Symposium, the ECOSOC Youth Forum, the International Conference on Sustainable Development, and in the Global Schools Case-Study Guide;
- structured mentoring program run by an educated professional who has finished the Global Schools Advocates program;
- a thorough advocates toolkit with more than 17 supplementary resources to direct their activity in school communities;
- a recognized Certificate of Completion.
Eligibility
- The applicants must be primary or secondary school teachers working anywhere throughout the world (teachers employed through UN Volunteers, Fulbright, Teach for All, etc. are also eligible).
- To successfully finish the Advocates Training and interact with the worldwide network, applicants must have a high level of English.
- willingness to devote at least 5 hours per week to this position. You are not required to use a predetermined curriculum if you use Global Schools. Spend your five to ten hours a week learning, discussing ideas with other educators, experimenting with how to incorporate sustainable development into your lesson plans, and starting a sustainable development movement in your school.
- zeal for the aims of the Paris Climate Agreement and the sustainable development goals. Nevertheless, no prior knowledge of the sustainable development goals is necessary!
- a readiness to interact with a worldwide teaching community and learn new things.
- The capacity to motivate others and the willingness to persuade other academic staff members to join you on your ESD journey!
