The TWAS-ICCBS Postgraduate Fellowship Programme 2023 is now accepting applications. Young scientists from developing nations (other than Pakistan) who wish to pursue research toward a PhD in chemical and biological sciences are eligible for fellowships from TWAS and the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), which is housed in Karachi, Pakistan and consists of the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry and the Dr. Panjwani Centre for Molecular and Drug Research.

For studies leading to a PhD in the following fields: organic chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, molecular medicine, pharmacology, physical chemistry, or analytical chemistry, TWAS-ICCBS Postgraduate Fellowships are available at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), which includes the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry and the Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular and Drug Research.

Funding

A monthly stipend from ICCBS should be used to pay for living expenses like food, lodging, local transportation, and unforeseen minor illnesses. There will be no currency exchange for the monthly payment.

Eligibility

  • The applicant’s age on December 31 of the application year must not exceed 35.
  • possess a Master’s degree in a natural science field;
  • be citizens of developing nations, excluding Pakistan;
  • not possess any visas allowing for either temporary or long-term residence in Pakistan or any other developed nation;
  • provide a medical doctor’s certificate attesting to your excellent health;
  • possess a “Registration and No Objection Certificate” from the HOME university; be registered PhD students in their home country;
  • a certified copy of the ICCBS Preliminary Acceptance Letter. The Director of ICCBS (Prof. M.I. Choudhary at iqbal.choudhary@iccs.edu, hej@cyber.net.pk, pcmd@cyber.net.pk, or protocol.iccbs@iccs.edu), who will assist the assignment of a host supervisor, must receive requests for acceptance. Candidates must send a copy of their CV, a summary of their research project, two reference letters, and a request for a preliminary acceptance letter to Prof. Choudhary;
  • if English wasn’t your primary language of instruction, show proof that you can communicate in English;
  • Offer proof that the fellow will return to her/his home country after the fellowship is over; promise not to accept any other assignments during the fellowship; and assume financial responsibility for any accompanying family members.

Application

A copy of the ICCBS acceptance letter must be sent with the application, or at the latest, by the deadline. The application won’t be taken into consideration for selection without preliminary acceptance.
Reference letters must be signed and printed on letterhead.
