The Global Peace Photo Award for 2023 is now accepting entries. The Global Peace Photo Award recognizes and encourages photographers from all over the world whose works show the pursuit of compassion and beauty in our daily lives as well as people’s attempts to build a peaceful society. The prize will go to the photos that best demonstrate how cohabitation is the key to our future.

The Global Peace Photo Award is given out by Edition Lammerhuber and The Photographische Gesellschaft (PHG). Edition Lammerhuber is an Austrian publisher with a base in Baden, close to Vienna, and a focus on photography and the interpretation of science and art. The Photographische Gesellschaft (PHG), the oldest among German-speaking nations and the second-oldest photographic society in the world, was founded in Vienna in 1861. It was invented on March 22, 1861, at the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna by Anton Georg Martin.
The World Press Photo Foundation, UNESCO, the Austrian Parliament, the Austrian Parliamentary Reporting Association, the International Press Institute (IPI), POY LATAM, LensCulture, and Vienna Insurance Group will work together to run the Global Peace Photo Award.
Award
- The Peace Image of the Year will get €10,000. It will be shown there for an entire calendar year and become a part of the permanent art collection of the Austrian Parliament.
- The top five photographers on the list will receive the Alfred Fried Peace Medal. They will be displayed there for a year by the Austrian Parliament.
- The recipient of the Children’s Peace Image of the Year prize will get €1,000. The image will be on display at the Austrian Parliament for an entire year.
- The prize presentation will take place on November 14, 2022, in Vienna at the invitation of the Austrian Parliament.
- Every image submitted has the chance to take part in global exhibitions.
Eligibility
- We welcome photographers from all over the world.
- Digital submissions must be stored as.jpg files and have a minimum of 3000 pixels on their longest side. Images cannot contain any borders, names, brands, or logos integrated in them.
- You are allowed to submit many pictures separately without reference to a main subject. You can also submit a narrative with up to 12 images.
Judging Criteria
The photographs will be judged on their artistic excellence, creativity, theme, and style by the international jury of the Global Peace Photo Award.
Application
For each entry (single image or story), an English caption with a character limit of 2000 is required. Try to keep your material as brief as you can; jurors favor concise, essential texts.
