For the EnerTracks Fellowship Programme 2023, applications are now being accepted. Eight fellows will be selected to attend a small gathering at the Agora Energiewende office in Berlin, Germany. While taking part in training courses that are developed and led by Agora Energiewende energy experts, each fellow continues to work half-time for their home institution.

These multidisciplinary sessions cover a range of subjects, including research methodology, power system adaptability, and energy markets. Each of these sessions is supplemented by reading materials, online resources, and group discussions.

Each fellow addresses a particular transformation topic of their choice with the help of their Agora Energiewende mentors. In order to apply the lessons learned to the fellow’s domestic job, the topic should be pertinent from the standpoint of their own organization.

Cost

To all EnerTracks fellows:

  • A travel stipend covering 50 percent of participants’ overseas travel costs, up to a maximum of €450 (excluding visa fees).
  • Berlin hotel accommodations with no extra cost
  • for the period of the Fellowship, tickets for any public transportation in Berlin
  • a little daily allowance
  • At our location in the center of Berlin, there is available office space.

  • A letter of recommendation for use in visa applications


The applicant is responsible for the following expenses:

Visa costs

Transportation costs to and from airports
Additional personal expenses that arose while I was in Berlin

Eligibility

  • Candidates must be citizens of a nation that receives official development assistance (ODA).
  • They require in-person participants to be able to show proof of full vaccine protection against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus due to German legislation. Participants may also be required to present a negative test result or documentation of immunity and adhere to quarantine rules, depending on the location of departure.
  • Candidates must be employed, linked with, or currently conducting research for an academic institution, think tank, other civil society organization, or another area of interest.
  • At the time of application, candidates must have a minimum of five years of professional experience working in the energy or environmental sectors. Instead of individuals who meet a specific age criteria, they are seeking for people with leadership potential who are at a “tipping point” in their careers.
  • A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in economics, environmental science, engineering, political science, or a closely related field is required of applicants (a master’s degree is preferable).
  • Candidates need to be fluent in English both orally and in writing.
  • In addition to having a solid understanding of power systems, energy economics, and climate and energy policy, policy instruments, and procedures, applicants should be genuinely interested in tackling issues related to climate change and the energy transformation in their home countries.
  • Candidates should be extremely humble and intellectually curious.

Fellowship Schedule

  • Spring 2023: (chosen participant cohort) 24 April–2 June 2023
  • Autumn 2023: November 6 through December 15, 2023

Application

After carefully reading the program details and eligibility requirements, submit the following in one (English language) PDF file via the online application form.

  • Your CV/resume, no longer than two pages
  • a letter of support authorizing you to attend the program from your home institution (applications without this letter may be automatically rejected)
  • A motivational letter outlining your present position within the company and how the training program(s) can help you with your work at home (maximum 500 words; about 4000 characters with spaces)
  • the EnerTracks Fellowship applications: Along with the motivation letter, candidates must also provide details on the particular research subject or topic they want to pursue with their Agora mentor AND how it links to their current employment (maximum 250 words). Applications for the Fellowship may be automatically rejected if they lack details about the study topic.
  • Name this document using the conventions listed below: joan_smith_AgoraTraining_Spring2023, for example, firstname_lastname_AgoraTraining_Spring2023.

Note: Before beginning the application form, have all required documentation ready. Unfortunately, you cannot save a form that is just partially finished and return to it later to finish it. The full form must be filled out and submitted in one sitting.
