The Varkey Foundation Global Teacher Prize 2023 is now accepting applications. The Global Teacher Prize, worth US $1 million, is given each year to a distinguished educator who has significantly advanced their field.

The purpose of the Global Teacher Prize is to emphasize the value of teachers and the fact that their efforts should be honored and recognized globally. It aims to recognize the positive effects that the very greatest teachers have on both their students and the communities in which they live.

Benefits

The prize is worth US $1 million, and the winner receives it. Over a ten-year period, the prize money will be paid out in equal annual increments.

Eligibility

Open to presently employed teachers who work with students who are enrolled in a compulsory education program or who range in age from five to eighteen.
Additionally, part-time instructors and instructors of online courses are eligible, as are teachers who work with students who are 4 years old or older and use a government-recognized Early Years curriculum.

Teachers must commit to working with students one-on-one for at least 10 hours per week and spend the next 5 years in the field.
Teachers from all types of schools and, subject to national legislation, all nations are eligible to apply for the Prize.

Criteria

A strict set of criteria will be used to evaluate candidates for the Global Teacher Prize in order to find an exceptional educator who has significantly advanced the field. The Academy will search for proof of a number of things, including:

Utilizing efficient instructional strategies that are scalable and replicable to impact the standard of education around the world.
Implementing cutting-edge educational strategies that meet the unique difficulties facing the school, community, or nation and that have amassed sufficient evidence to imply they could be successful in resolving these challenges.
Obtaining tangible learning outcomes for students in the classroom.

Impact outside of the classroom that serves as distinctive and exceptional examples of excellence for the teaching profession and others.
Giving kids a values-based education that prepares them for a future where they may end up living, working, and interacting with people of many other nationalities, ethnicities, and religions will help them become global citizens.
raising the bar for instruction, sharing best practices, and supporting colleagues in their school’s issues are all ways to advance the teaching profession.

Governments, national teaching organizations, principals, colleagues, people from the larger society, or students may recognize instructors.
The well-known Global Teacher Prize Academy, which is composed of head teachers, educational authorities, commentators, journalists, public figures, tech entrepreneurs, company directors, and scientists from all around the world, will select the winner.
