Eligibility
- Those who are applying must be on pace to satisfactorily complete all degree requirements before August 1 of their Schwarzman Scholars enrollment year. This condition applies to those who are presently enrolled in undergraduate degree programs.
- All undergraduate majors are acceptable; there are no criteria for a particular field of study. However, it is crucial for applicants, regardless of undergraduate major, to explain how being a Schwarzman Scholar will help them develop their leadership potential in their profession.
- As of August 1 of the Schwarzman Scholars enrollment year (for the Class of 2024–2025, as of August 1, 2024), candidates must be at least 18 but not yet 29 years old.
- Since all instruction will be done in English, applicants must exhibit outstanding English language abilities. If English is not the applicant’s first language, official English proficiency test results must be included with the application. For applicants who attended an undergraduate institution where English was the predominant medium of instruction for at least two years of their academic degree, this requirement is waived.
- For candidates who have studied in English for two years or more at the Master’s degree level or higher, the requirement will also be removed. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT) is a valid test choice. a 100 minimum score. IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System. Minimum rating: 7. Advanced (C1) or Proficiency (C2) levels of Cambridge English are available. Minimum rating of 185.
Application
Once you have provided all the necessary information and finished the application online, it must be electronically submitted. You must fill out the application in English. You can access, save, and continue working on your application as often as necessary before submitting it. You do not have to finish the online application all at once.
The following proof of identification is required:
- A recent version of your resume or CV, no longer than two pages.
- 2 Essays: A Leadership Essay (750 words) and a Statement of Purpose (500 words) are both required. The essays are a crucial part of the application because they allow the selection committee to learn more about you as a person, gauge your potential for leadership, and assess your writing and analytical talents.
- Transcripts and academic files: For each degree-granting post-secondary institution you attended, you must scan and upload official transcripts.
- Three letters of support: Your recommenders should be well acquainted with you and be able to discuss your intellectual prowess, character traits, and capacity for leadership using concrete instances from their actual interactions with you.
- introductory video Submit a one-minute maximum long self-introduction video. You can introduce yourself whichever you feel best expresses your interests and personality. This recording is intended to give the committee a chance to hear you introduce yourself in your own voice and mannerisms.
- For the class of 2024–2025, the U.S. and international application period is currently available from April 12, 2023 through September 19, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.
