To assist students seeking computer science degrees in becoming leaders in technology, the Generation Google Scholarship: for Women in Computer Science was created. For the academic year 2023–2024, chosen students will receive a reward of 7,000 EUR (or its equivalent in their home country). The Generation Google Scholarship: for Women in Computer Science will be given based on each applicant’s dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as their academic achievement and leadership qualities.

Requirements

Those interested in applying must:

  • be presently enrolled full-time in a bachelor’s degree at an authorized college or university for the academic year 2022-2023.
  • Plan to enroll in or be accepted into a full-time Bachelors degree at an accredited institution in Europe, the Middle East, or Africa for the 2023–2024 school year.
  • be enrolled in a program in computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related technical subject.
  • Establish a solid academic history.
  • Show initiative and a desire to make marginalized groups more visible in computer science and technology.

For the academic year 2023–2024, chosen students will receive a reward of 7,000 EUR (or its equivalent in their home country).

Application Method

You will be required to submit an online application that asks you to:

  • Information about your general history, including contact information and specifics about your current and future universities
  • Resume/CV
  • academic records from the school you are presently attending
  • Answers to questions with a short essay

Essay Prompts:

The two short essay questions that follow are meant to test your capacity for problem solving as well as your dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The answers to the following two questions should each be no longer than 500 words.

  • Tell me about a moment when you were confronted with a challenging issue for which there was no obvious solution. Clearly outline the steps you followed to arrive at the solution. What sources and options did you take into account? What did this experience teach you? Remember that you may have dealt with this issue at job, school, extracurricular activities, or your home.
  • Give an example of a restriction that limits fair access to the technology sector based on your own experience. What do you think the underlying cause is? What steps have you taken and are you planning to take to remedy this injustice? Please devote at least 50% of your response to outlining the steps you have already taken. Remember that impact can occur in numerous ways and at various scales.


IMPORTANT: Please have the following files prepared for upload before beginning the application:

  • a PDF version of your résumé; if available, please list any leadership roles, extracurricular activities, and initiatives related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • a PDF copy of your most recent or current transcript, which can be unofficial.
  • The deadline to submit an application is Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 6:59 AM GMT, whichever comes first.
