The third annual Imagine 2200: Climate Fiction for Future Ancestors short story competition has been announced by Grist with enthusiasm.

Writers from all around the world are invited to participate in Imagine 2200 and envision a future in which the climate crisis is solved and our planet undergoes significant advances. We challenge you to dream big.

Requirements:

  • Grist is searching for 3,000–5,000 word stories that imagine intersectional worlds of abundance, adaptability, reform, and hope over the next 180 years of climate progress—roughly seven generations.

Benefits

  • The winner will receive $3,000, while the runners-up will receive $2,000 and the third-place finishers will receive $1,000.
  • Nine other finalists will get $300 each. The stories of all winners and finalists will be published on Grist’s website in an immersive anthology.
