The Day’s Global Young Journalist Awards 2023 are now accepting applications. A contest for young journalists, the Global Young Journalist Awards seeks to motivate upcoming generations of writers to use their craft to improve the world. The Awards, which are in their second year, include new categories and enable young people to submit their stories in any format they choose.
Anyone worldwide who will be under 19 on January 1, 2023, is eligible to participate in this free tournament. These journalism awards were established by Richard Addis, the creator and editor of the online daily The Day, with the goal of becoming the most prestigious of their type for young people.

Eligibility
- any person who will be younger than 19 on January 1, 2023.
- A candidate may be from any country in the world.
Rules
Anything that can be considered journalism is welcome, but it must be about the news, either locally or globally, and it must try to tell the truth. Each entry must be written in English and follow one of the following six formats:
Published article
- On one side of an A4 sheet, it should be entered as a PDF with your name on it.
- Ages 11-18: The length requirement is 450–550 words, with a headline at the top.
- under the age of ten: the length requirement is 250–350 words, with a headline at the top.
Video
- The length must be between 120 and 180 seconds.
- Please post to a personal YouTube or Vimeo account (you can use your own or ask your teacher if your school has one). If utilizing your own channel, provide your teacher or guardian the connection and password.
Audio
- Ages 11 to 18: Must not exceed five minutes
- Children under the age of ten: Must not exceed three minutes
- You should name the MP3 file you save it as.
Photography
- One to six pictures per entry Recommendation: Your picture should be described in one paragraph and submitted as a one-page PDF.
- Save images as JPEG files bearing your name.
Illustration
- They are searching for the most entertaining news cartoon, caricature, or drawing.
- Save it as a JPEG or PDF with your name on it and one illustration per entry.
- Recommended: a one-page PDF with a one-paragraph description of your illustration
Graphic
- They are seeking the most effective graphic depiction of significant data.
- a one image per entry
- with your name as a JPEG or PDF
- Recommended: a one-paragraph summary of your image that you’ve uploaded as a one-page PDF
Do not:
- Submit any offensive, abusive, or inappropriate material. Your entry will be rejected if you do this.
- any writing that is not your own or that has already been published somewhere else.
- Avoid sending entries that are incomplete or late since they won’t be accepted.
- submit multiple distinct entries under the same category. There will be just one unique entry per category.
