The World Trade Organization (WTO) is seeking individuals to join the 2024 Young Professionals Program who are talented, well qualified, and ambitious (YPP). The program, which aims to give young professionals a chance to improve their abilities and get experience in the area of international trade, is now accepting applications.
The Young Professionals Programme (YPP), which was established in 2016, is a technical assistance initiative supported by the Global Trust Fund and managed by the WTO’s Institute for Training and Technical Cooperation. It is a part of the WTO Secretariat’s initiatives to enhance membership representation and promote diversity.

According to the organization’s needs and priorities as well as the chosen young professionals’ areas of interest, they are assigned to a particular division of the Secretariat. The candidates work in the Secretariat for a year, learning about and participating in the organization’s operations.
The YPP offers young professionals a one-of-a-kind chance to get priceless practical experience. Alumni of the YPP have gone on to take positions in the private sector, national governments, and international organizations (such as the WTO), working in the fields of multilateral diplomacy and international trade.
Requirements
- Applicants must be up to 32 years old as of January 1, 2023, and must reside in one of the eligible nations.
- Also, candidates must fulfill all other program requirements.
- Starting in January 2024, the chosen applicants will serve at the WTO Secretariat for a full calendar year.
- Candidates must be WTO members and residents of poor or least-developed countries (LDCs).
Duration
Without the option of extension, one year.
Compensation and advantages
The program pays participants a monthly compensation of CHF 3,500. The WTO also covers reasonable travel expenses and medical insurance.

Nationals of WTO members with no representation at the professional level in the Secretariat are given preference.
