For the new online course EdTech Evidence for Entrepreneurs. Which aims to use the best available evidence to improve teaching and learning outcomes in Africa. Applications are now being accepted. The course is designed exclusively for entrepreneurs and creators of EdTech products. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Jacobs Foundation, and UKAid are all supporting this selective, cohort-based training. That EdTech Hub is providing for free. It intends to assist business owners in developing EdTech products. With evidence by applying research on how kids learn, what constitutes quality instruction, and how to design products with users in mind.

Who may apply?

If any of the following apply to you, you are qualified to register for the cohort-based EdTech Evidence for Entrepreneurs—Sub-Saharan Africa course beginning in March 2023:

  • You are creating, or have already created, an educational technology (EdTech) service or product with a foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) focus for pre-primary and/or primary-level instructors and students in a Sub-Saharan African nation. You can learn more about the educational fields in which your FLN-focused EdTech solution might belong here. Examples of FLN-focused EdTech products from our pilot cohort are also available here.
  • You might run your own business (be an entrepreneur) or work for a firm (be an intrapreneur), in which case you would be in charge of developing an EdTech product or service.
  • You are based in a nation in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • You can easily interact with the course because you have access to the internet and a laptop.
  • Throughout the six-week trip, you are willing and able to actively participate in the course with peers and professionals for around 5 hours each week.
  • You are proficient in English on a professional level

What are the Rewards of the Award?

  • With interesting video and text content, individualized coaching sessions, peer-to-peer learning, live masterclasses with EdTech experts, and other methods, the course will provide rigorous instruction that is both practical and thorough.
  • The training can be used by entrepreneurs and innovators to provide their goods the best possibility of having a noticeable impact on sub-Saharan African students, teachers, and educational systems.
  • Also, entrepreneurs chosen to enroll in the course will be eligible for a financial incentive to promote the growth of their EdTech product’s capability and will get a certificate of recognition upon successful completion of the course.

Applications are now being accepted for the inaugural cohort, whose classes will start on September 26, 2022. This cohort will include programmers from East African nations. Further cohorts, including Western Africa (January–February 2023) and Southern Africa, will concentrate on more areas of Africa (March–April 2023).

The length of the award

The course, which is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Jacobs Foundation, and UK Aid, aims to help you enhance your FLN-focused EdTech product by providing real-world advice from other businesspeople, subject-matter authorities, and thought leaders.
