Program Summary
The African Development Bank’s Fashionomics Africa initiative. Intends to increase Africa’s involvement in the global textile, clothing, and accessory value chains. The goal is to support the expansion of the micro, small, and medium-sized firms that dominate this sector. By providing them with the access to markets, market intelligence, and financing possibilities. They need to scale up their operations in an increasingly digitalized economy.
To create sustainable business models and gain access to funding. The project is developing the Fashionomics Africa incubator and accelerator programs. The curriculum and content will be divided into separate incubator and accelerator programs. With an emphasis on strengthening business and financial models, investment readiness, branding, marketing, digitization, sustainability, and circular economy actions applied to the industry, and outlining preparations for the capital raising process.
Benefits
At the program’s conclusion, 12 finalists from the incubator and accelerator programs will compete for the top 2 awards of $20,000 USD each to expand their businesses.
Eligibility
- Open to individuals with a valid form of identification, such as a passport, national ID card, or voter card, that was issued in an African nation or that they are physically residing in an African nation.
- Candidates must be at least 18 years old. Youth between the ages of 18 and 35 and women-run fashion firms will be given preference.
- You are welcome to submit an application if you are a fashion micro, small, or medium-sized business (MSMEs) or fashion entrepreneur working in the fashion ecosystem, including but not limited to fashion designing and dressmaking, accessories design and making, textile design, fashion illustration, fashion photography, technology-enabled fashion businesses, and service providers whose primary focus is fashion.
- Candidates must either have an account already on the Fashionomics Africa Platform or register for one.
Particular Selection Criteria for the Fashionomics Africa Incubator Program.
- Under three (3) year old fashion company enterprises, registered or not.
- There is atleast implementation of proof of concept in the fashion industry on a micro, small, or medium scale.
- The program gives a precise and in-depth explanation of the fashion industry.
Specific Selection Criteria for the Fashionomics Africa Accelerator Program.
- Entities must properly register as a business in the African nation where they conduct business.
- A fashion start-up or firm must be in the growth stage (must have existed for at least 3 years, have solid traction with clear product and sale channels and customer base).

The deadline for submissions is February 22, 2023. After the deadline, there will be rejection of late applications.
