The grants, which are available to both academic and professional personnel, support group projects that are centered on one of the two major strategic areas of the Commonwealth Climate Resilience Network (CCRN):
·     Improving the resilience of universities to climate change, or
·     Increasing universities’ contribution to community, industry, and government resilience
The funding can be utilized for a wide range of initiatives, training sessions, and occasions in sectors like:
·     Enhancing learning, teaching, and training for climate change adaptation, such as through virtual exchange or collaboration, sharing of teaching or professional practice, and co-development of learning materials
·     Building research management and uptake ability, virtual fellowships or collaboration, comparative analyses, and understanding and recording indigenous knowledge and resilience practices are some examples of ways to increase the research capacity of CCRN members in climate change adaptation.
·     The development of tools, training, and strategies to assist contingency and continuity of operations planning at higher education institutions, for example, is one way that Commonwealth universities are improving the institutional resilience policies and practices they have implemented.
What is covered by the grant?
·     For staff at ACU member universities to help cover the costs of organizing projects that promote the goals and priorities of the CCRN, four grants of up to GBP 2,500 each are available.
·     Only ACU members are eligible for this funding, thus we encourage candidates to work with other ACU member universities to foster more Commonwealth partnerships. Applications that are organized by ACU members but involve collaborations with organizations outside of our network will also be considered.
·     Grant requests that include a requirement for matching or additional funding from the applicant’s institution will be given preference.
·     A brief interim report is due halfway through the project, and a thorough final report is due one month after the project is over. Any outputs (such as toolkits, publications, etc.) produced as a result of the funds must also be made available to the CCRN and larger ACU network.
