AMI stands for Africa Matters Initiative. Her Environment, Her Future: An Empowerment Program for Young Women in Africa & Europe Fighting Against Climate Change is presented by the Africa Matters Initiative in collaboration with the Africa-Europe Foundation: New Partners Initiative.
Young women from Africa and Europe working against climate change can participate in the nine-week, non-residential youth leadership and virtual advocacy program called Her Environment, Her Future. Leadership, personal growth, policy participation, advocacy, green and social entrepreneurship, and effective communication are the program’s main areas of focus. Participants will leave the program with the knowledge, perspective, and skills necessary to transform their communities, nations, and regions in accordance with three broad themes:
Personal growth, advocacy, and leadership in the field of climate change
African and European ties through networking and cooperation.
Participants will leave the program with certificates of completion and a large network of young women leaders.
20 girls and women between the ages of 15 and 29 make up the 2022 cohort. Ghana, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Egypt, Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, Madagascar, and nine more sub-Saharan nations are represented by the ten participants. United Kingdom, Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Finland, and Spain are among the ten participants from Europe.
Since this is a test program, it will be in English this year.
The application period begins on June 24 at 12:00 CAT and ends on July 6 at 11:59 CAT. You should spend between 45 and an hour on the application. 20 HER Leaders will be tentatively chosen and announced the week of July 11th, 2022.
The non-residential adolescent leadership and online advocacy program will formally launch the week of July 18, 2022, and conclude the following week, September 18, 2022.
