In order to increase awareness of the lived reality of women farmers in Africa, the Elevating the Voices of Women in Agriculture (EVWA) Campaign was created.
The BKMC is on a mission to raise awareness of and inspire action for the empowerment of women farmers in Africa with the EVWA Campaign. The majority of smallholder farmers worldwide are women. They provide 70% of the food for the continent of Africa. However, due to gender disparities and our changing climate, they are the most vulnerable members of the farming community and have challenges in obtaining land, money, education, and more.
In order to empower women farmers in Africa, the EVWA Changemakers Campaign celebrates initiatives run by young African leaders. Join us in promoting the SDGs SDG 5 Gender Equality, SDG 2 Zero Hunger, and SDG 13 Climate Action. Become a Changemaker for ELEVATING VOICES OF WOMEN IN AFRICA – EVWA!
An annual 30 under 30 program called EVWA Changemakers honors and promotes extraordinary young Africans who are in charge of initiatives that advance the status of women farmers.
Young inspiring leaders working to empower women farmers will be chosen as EVWA Changemakers and highlighted on the organization’s website through a call for nominations.
Benefits FOR ELEVATING VOICES OF WOMEN IN AFRICA CHAMPIONSHIP
The most inventive and motivating project EVWA Changemaker will be named and honored as the EVWA Champion.
The EVWA Champion title comes with a seed grant reward of $5,000 USD to increase the impact of this project.
Additionally, the EVWA Champion will have the chance to take part in fascinating multimedia documentary production.
We’ll broadcast this documentary through our advertising channels to highlight the EVWA Champion as an illustration of best practices.
The EVWA Champion will be featured in 2022 at or close to COP27 in Sharm-El-Sheikh, Egypt, in order to garner international notice and expand their network of high-potential partners.
We will organize a powerful online show in 2024 that will feature the EVWA (ELEVATING WOMEN’S VOICES IN AFRICA HIGHER IN AGRICULTURE) Champions of 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Do you speak English at an upper-intermediate level?
